Griezmann transfer could see Barcelona enforcer leave for Man Utd

Manchester United are watching Ivan Rakitic’s situation at Barcelona, according to a report.

The 29-year-old has grown in stature at Barca since his 2014 move from Sevilla and he has become an integral part of Ernesto Valverde’s side.

The Croatian has played 41 times this season and is under contract until 2021, but Diario Gol claims his future may become clouded if Antoine Griezmann signs for the Catalan club.

The Atletico striker is heavily rumoured to be heading to Barcelona in the summer and his transfer may well see Philippe Coutinho being shifted into a midfield role, which in turn could see Rakitic missing out.

The Spanish source claim Rakitic wants clarification over what the move would mean for his Barcelona future.

With Jose Mourinho’s United at the head of the queue for his services.

Diario Gol recently claimed that Barcelona could offer United £50million for Paul Pogba and include Rakitic as part of the deal.

And it seems that the futures of Rakitic and Andre Gomes are far from assured with Liverpool also mentioned as potential suitors for both Barcelona players in January.

United though are chasing midfield recruits with Michael Carrick set to retire and Marouane Fellaini set to leave on a free.
